PHOTOGRAPHY

Zuidema (1953, the Netherlands) studied at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam where he specialized in the use of film and photography in anthropological research. After receiving a master’s degree in cultural anthropology, he worked as a documentary and news photographer. His work has been published in National Geographic Traveler, GEO, Grandes Voyages, EOS, Quartz, The Guardian, HuffPost, NPR, Popular Science, Focus, Photo and many other magazines and web sites. Zuidema’s photographs have been exhibited in a wide range of galleries from Amsterdam to New York City. In 2021, he moved to Savannah, joined the KOBO gallery and began to photograph Georgia’s coastal areas. He often stitches up to 21 exposures together to create sweeping and very detailed landscape panoramas. Zuidema is currently working on ‘Ghost Forest’ a photographic story about trees along the Atlantic Coast that are dying off due to sea level rise. He often travels to Mexico to photograph the rich culture and passionate people of this country.
