MARTA MCWHORTER
DRAWING
Marta McWhorter rejoined Kobo Gallery in 2021 after a short hiatus to focus on new creative endeavors in woodworking and cabinetry. She presents a mix of fine art as well as usable wares such as exquisitely designed and crafted cutting boards and clipboards.
Marta’s work also explores a world of found objects. The “made” world, the tools and toys of daily life, and the often-overlooked items discarded or ignored inspires her most. This passion has always manifested itself in her fine art works as seen through the subjects that she draws and paints, or in the materials she uses to express ideas.
Recently, she has taught herself the art of cabinet making as she often thinks and considers the relevance and importance of “the hand of the maker” and what it tells the viewer as they experience art.
