After receiving my master’s degree in visual anthropology from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, I had a 35 year career as a documentary and travel photographer. My work has been published in National Geographic Traveler, Grandes Voyages, Quartz, Popular Science, GEO, NPR, The Guardian, Focus and many more magazines, newspapers and websites. After moving to Savannah in 2021, I decided to switch my focus to a more imaginative approach. I’ve begun to photograph landscapes along the Georgia coast in order to create images that point to a different reality. For many of those images, I take up to 24 shots and then stitch those together in post-processing. In this way I strive to create images that can be seen as movie sets on which the onlooker can project his or her own characters and stories.
